Long Ball Program’s Second Season Opening Tonight at DAP

The Durham chapter of Minor League Baseball’s Long Ball Program, an initiative to support underserved youth by providing an opportunity to play baseball, as well as learn life skills, begins its second season tonight at Durham Athletic Park. The teams in the program all have MiLB names and uniforms and consist of two, four team divisions. After the opening ceremonies, two games will be played at the DAP, one in each of the 13-15 and 16-18 year old divisions. (MORE)

Durham Bulls were back for the 2nd annual “Back to the DAP”

Fun, nostalgia and a pretty good game of the top level of Minor League Baseball were the order of the night in the Bull City on Monday.

That’s because the Durham Bulls were back at their old stomping grounds for the second annual “Back to the DAP” contest at venerable Durham Athletic Park. (MORE)

Durham Athletic Park Lights Up With Musco Lighting

Minor League Baseball’s historic field of dreams in downtown Durham just got a little brighter.

Durham Athletic Park, the generations-old facility that was the former home of the Durham Bulls, has a new Musco Lighting system that illuminates the playing field to a modern standard without adding unnecessary brightness to the whole neighborhood.

DAP Restoration Project Honored

MiLB, City of Durham Honored for DAP Restoration Project

Minor League Baseball and the city of Durham, N.C., were recently honored for their roles in renovating historic Durham Athletic Park with a Neighborhood Conservation Award from Preservation Durham. The ninth annual awards honor those who are saving the historic fabric of Durham neighborhoods.

The city of Durham allocated a total of $5.5 million in funds, beginning in 2008, for the renovation of Durham Athletic Park. Minor League Baseball entered into an agreement to help in the renovation and operate the DAP when the project was completed.
